Ellie Keeps Running

Running Potters Arf Marathon 2025 · 29 September 2025
I used to work for the Ambulance Service. On the way home from a night shift on New Year’s Day 2023, I was involved in a serious RTC. On scene I was helped by the Ambulance, MERIT, Police, and the Fire Service. I was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital, where I was treated by Critical Care, spinal surgeons, and the Acute Rehabilitation Trauma Unit. I wasn’t supposed to survive and my injuries were extensive, including a significant head injury, spinal breaks, and a broken neck. I had to learn to walk again.
On New Year’s Day 2024 I began a challenge to run 100K every month to raise money for the Royal Stoke’s Acute Rehabilitation Trauma Unit. I completed this, running 1,321.68K in total.
I am going to keep raising money.
All money raised will help fund important equipment, new facilities, pioneering research, and to make a difference to patients, their families, and staff who care for them in the unit.
I chose to raise money for the ARTU but each time I lace my trainers up, it is in honour of everyone who aided in my survival and recovery.
I feel so privileged to be able to move my body so I will continue running and fundraising until the day that I can’t.
