Story

Thank you for visiting Ellie's Memorial page.

Ellie, or Ell as her family and friends fondly called her, grew up to be a wonderful young woman. A beautiful, kind, generous, intelligent, thoughtful girl, who was full of love and brought happiness to everyone that was lucky enough to meet her and be a part of her life.

A loving daughter and sister, whose life revolved around her family, friends and her two dogs. Ellie was a selfless and generous person, giving her time freely or spoiling us with a random gift. Ellie loved to give and asked for nothing in return.

A passion for music, Ellie listened to anything from 60’s to present day, wherever Ellie was there was always music playing. A Manchester City Fan, who loved Sergio Aguero and especially Jack Grealish.

Ellie worked as a Learning Support Assistant, with passion, she loved “her kids” at school and her colleagues have only had good things to say about Ellie, how she was a good friend and loved by all, staff and kids alike. Ellie was studying at University, passing her first year. Ellie wanted to return to work and become a SEND Teacher it was only her doctors instructions that stopped her from returning to work and university this September.

Ellie was diagnosed with Metastatic Ewings Sarcoma in November of 2022. Our strong young woman’s first thoughts were for her family, how to tell her dad, her brothers and nan. Ellie wanted to protect her family first and foremost.

Ellie was admitted to the care of UCLH & The Macmillan Cancer Centre, London. Initially Ellie was to undertake 14 sessions of Chemotherapy combined with 30 days of radiation. With many Hospital trips for Chemo and scans that continued through to November 2023. Ellie bravely took everyday day as it come, never complaining, never giving up, even trying new things with alternative therapies, diets and planning for her future. For a long period Ellie was non weight bearing, but with her strong will, courage and determination, Ellie was back walking unaided by July 2023.

After having her post treatment scans in August 2023, Ellie was told the primary tumour had reduced however that there was further progression on the lungs, which required further chemotherapy. At the end of November 2023, Ellie was admitted to the local hospital, with fluid on her left lung, which had partly collapsed, and with an infection. The fluid was drained and Ellie was given Antibiotics which seemed to be helping and Ellie appeared to be feeling better and breathing easier. We thought she would be ok.

It is with great sadness that Our Ellie at the young age of 22, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Queens Hospital on the morning of Sunday the 3rd of December 2023.

Ewings is a horrible beast of a disease, but it never broke our Ellie.

Ellie is a Warrior, loved and remembered forever by us all.

We are so proud of you Ellie,

Donations go directly to Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting this charity, we can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep Support Lines open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care.
