Hi my names Ellie and I haven’t yet decided if I’m brave or a little crazy.. but I have been lucky enough to get a place in next years London Marathon !!! This is amazing albeit a little scary. Firstly I will be the first one to admit I am not a runner … at all… but in this particular time in my life, where .. I will be honest with you .. I feel rather lost .. I need a focus.. a challenge and something I can be bloody proud of myself for!! Once I got that email of confirmation through ( after nervously laughing / nearly crying) hahah… I thought to myself.. right … LETS DO THIS !!!! When thinking of a charity .. to me it was a no brainer…. Rainbows Hospice was the one. It’s close to my heart and here’s why…
My wonderful friends Sophie and Liam have a gorgeous little girl Willow already and were blessed with their second beautiful daughter 🌼 Daisy Margaret Hembley 🌼
“Our beautiful Daisy was born unexpectedly at home on 22.09.22 weighing 6lbs 7oz. Daisy was born unresponsive, and went for 15 minutes without oxygen. On arrival at Peterborough hospital she was quickly started on a cooling treatment for 72 hours, to allow her body chance to recover. We later moved to Leicester Royal Infirmary to continue the treatment and following this she underwent an MRI scan. The scan showed significant brain damage through the lack of oxygen at birth. Daisy's ventilator was removed and she was expected to pass... but she continued to breathe 💜We moved to Rainbows Hospice for Children where Willow joined us, and we spent the weekend making memories and cherishing every moment with Daisy and our girls together ❤
Daisy fell asleep in our arms on 03.10.22 🌼Rainbows Hospice gave us the change to live a typical family life... we were able to cuddle Daisy freely, change her, feed her and bath her! Daisy and Willow did so much, they went swimming, had a massage and did prints together! Our family came and spent time with us all. We roamed the gardens with Daisy in the pram most days, and Willow took full advantage of the soft play room! 🥰 🌈The care we all received from both Leicester Royal Infirmary ITU and Rainbows Hospice was incredible. They they gave Daisy every fighting chance and cared for her like their own..Thank you to all our family and friends for the upmost love and support you have shown us! “💜🌼❤🌈💛It will be one of the toughest journeys I’ve ever embarked on but this this nothing compared to what my friends have gone through. I will feed off your bravery and courage. So come rain, shine, hail, snow, high winds and everything in between… Daisy this is for you beautiful girl and I would love to give back to such a worthy cause.
