Story
6 weeks since not finishing Ironman Wales (3 September) I hit the start line AND finish line of Ironman Portugal (21 October)….. What a journey getting to this finish line it’s been, but I am now an Ironman and feel happier for those who sponsored me for Wales who I didn’t fulfil my side of the deal…. If you’ve been inspired by my journey and want to inspire other families with your generosity; I can assure you First Days Children’s Charity families will be hugely grateful. Xxx
Ironman Wales journey;
I've always been drawn to the world of triathlons and remember marshaling at a feed station at the Challenge Henley in 2012, where James from Spokes of Bagshot and other Tri2O members, including Callum Hughes, took part in the long distance triathlon. It's been a dream of mine to do one myself and have always said I would done one when the girls started school - they are now in year 2!! I'm excited to say that the time has finally come.
I've entered Ironman Wales on Sunday 3 September - 2.4 mile sea swim, 112 mile hilly cycle and 26.2 mile "undulating" run.
I'm currently training 14-16 hours a week, both physically and financially investing in this journey to become a long distance triathlon finisher. My coach, Lewis Williams of PEaK Team UK, is an integral part of my team, as well as Spokes of Bagshot, who helped me source a fantastic bike for the hilly course at Ironman Wales and Callum Hughes at Velo Clinic for setting it up correctly for me: it's perfect now!
Now I just need to keep eating consistently, keep training consistently, and keep sleeping consistently - eat, train, sleep, repeat! It's that simple 😉
I will do this and will be motivated to do this even more if I know my efforts and sacrifices are going to help local children who don't have the basics and essentials to live a happy and safe childhood.
I see first-hand from working at First Days Children's Charity, the dire effects of poverty that families are finding themselves in and I want to be able to help them bring some smile and fun to their lives as EVERYONE deserves to be safe, have fun and be confident.
Thank you for your time reading this and your support to get me out of bed at 6am to train before work and then again at 9pm after work and being "Mum!" #believetoachieve
