Story
Dave has been busy getting his boxing gloves on this year and putting in the hours in the ring. He has now set himself up for an incredible challenge and is competing in White Collar Boxing Show at The Troxy on December 8th. To add to this amazing achievement he has decided to raise money in honour of Ella and her very own battle.
After being diagnosed with a brain tumour in November 2018, Ella's journey has been one of hope. However, she is still navigating the effects of the treatment she received as many of these are designed for adults and haven't been created to target brain tumours specifically.
Charities like The Brain Tumour Charity are essential for raising awareness, funds and targeting the government to increase spend in this area.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer - at least 88,000 children and adults are currently estimated to be living with a brain tumour in the UK.
Just 12% of adults survive for five years after diagnosis and brain tumours reduce life expectancy by an average of 27 years – the highest of any cancer.
Despite this, treatments haven't changed in 40 years and research into brain tumours is still woefully underfunded. In fact, just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.
