Story
At age 14 anorexia nervosa turned my world upside down, I battled every day with my own mind to navigate a difficult relationship with food and exercise. This is not something that just affected me but also my friends and family who fought everyday to help me recover.
Beat is the UK's eating disorders charity. They exist to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. The work they do played a big role in aiding my recovery journey, from allowing my mam to join chat rooms where she could meet other parents in a similar situation for support to the phone lines available for help.
Now I want to give back, which is why I've decided to take part in the 2024 Great North Run in support of Beat. It is all too common that young women in particular suffer with their relationship with food and body image, in fact it is estimated that between 1.25 to 3.4 million people in the UK suffer with an eating disorder. Together we can donate and help Beat to continue to carry out their amazing work and put a stop to the suffering.
