Story
So on the 5th of May I am going to run the Sierra Leone Marathon in support of Street Child! Exciting! Scary! WOW!
Many of you remember me saying never again after Birmingham, but hey, never is a long time.
Before Covid a friend mentioned doing another and during Covid, as my mileage increased, the thought took hold. Follow this with an inspiring talk, a want to do something big and help others, and this challenge was decided upon.
January 2022 saw me finding a running coach and entering Cardiff Marathon to check I could still run one. With further training and putting on of my "big girl pants", I am all signed up.
Thank you for supporting my Sierra Leone Marathon! You are helping Street Child ensure children are safe, in school and learning. Anything you can give would be amazing.
When Street Child started working in Sierra Leone in 2008, it was the poorest nation in the world. Today, children continue to face significant barriers to learning, with 36% of children never completing primary school and many more leaving school without foundational literacy and numeracy skills. Without intervention, children risk getting stuck in a cycle of illiteracy and poverty.
The communities they serve need Street Child to act and they are determined to do just that. They have the experience, skills and a plan. Now they just need you.
Your support of the Sierra Leone Marathon is critical to the work they do as it is with your support they have been able to support over 749,920 children into education and support 89,773 families to set up businesses so they can afford the cost of educating their children long-term.
