Story
Update: thanks so much to everyone who's sponsored me. I did it in a time of 6hrs 41. It was a beautiful race and the rain largely held off. So so pleased to have raised so much money. Now for a lie down. Xxx
On April 28th I'll be running my first ever marathon, raising funds for Fred Bennett's 'Don't Look Down' Fund. This April marks my friends Louise and Jon's son Fred's 18th birthday and with people taking on various running events throughout the month, Don't Look Down hopes to raise £18,000. Don't Look Down is a Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group Special Named Fund set up in memory of Fred Bennett who died from Leukaemia aged 14 in 2020. Its aim is to change the future so children with cancer will have better, safer, and specific treatment options.
I know I've done various sporty things but running really isn't my strong point and this, my first marathon, will be a real challenge. Not only is the course in fact 28 miles rather than the usual 26.2, but going over the South Downs as it does, it involves 4000ft of ascent. Fortunately, there's a generous 10 hour cut off, so I hope to get round. Please sponsor me to help motivate my training and to support this fantastic cause.
