Story
Those famous words “I’m never running the marathon again” here we are about to prepare on a long endeavour to train for the marathon again. I have EDS and progressively since giving birth again flare ups are more frequent and more painful. So I think this time is going to be even harder, my body feels more fragile and uncomfortable. But challenges are there to be used to push yourself and hopefully succeed.
This year I’m running for WellChild, WellChild Childrens Nurses provide essential care and practical support to children and young people requiring long-term or complex care. They play a crucial role in enabling children to leave hospital and be cared for at home, reducing the practical, emotional and financial impact for families.
WellChild is also committed to funding high quality, innovative projects designed to have a positive impact for seriously ill children both now and in the future. This includes WellChilds Helping Hands programme which continues to go from strength to strength, working with volunteers from companies and organisations across the country to tackle essential projects in the homes of children with serious illness. Those volunteers provide the manpower and enthusiasm for projects such as bedroom and garden makeovers.
Having worked with children my whole life I see the impact of havibg a thriving home and not having that thriving home. It makes such a difference to the children/young people. The next generation deserve to live the most thriving life as possible and in todays world it’s becoming harder and harder with costs of all the support. So this year have chosen a charity which will enable a child to thrive at home and having two boys of my own I know how much I want them to have s thriving background so I’ll push to my limits to succeed this marathon making them both proud.
