I've bravely (stupidly?) committed to virtually climbing Ben Nevis next month - some feat at 7 months pregnant!

I'm embarking on this challenge to raise money for the Newcastle Student Fund, which provides scholarships and bursaries to students from disadvantaged backgrounds so they can reach their potential and enjoy the full university experience.

Growing up on a council estate in Middlesbrough, I know only too well the massive impact scholarships and bursaries have for students - I don't think I would have got through university without them.

Applying and then studying at university when you come from a background like mine feels like a mountain to climb, with lots of barriers in the way. By virtually climbing Ben Nevis, I can hopefully help future students like me overcome these barriers.
