Cockerill and Co Alliance Members and Staff Challenge Themselves for the Brain Tumour Charity by Doing the Lakes 3 Peaks Challenge This August
Elaine's Story:
In 2016, my extremely fit and well dad, Blair, was diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma brain tumour. The diagnosis rocked our world and came with major implications for our family and our flooring business, Living Floors.
Blair tackled the tumour as he did everything in life, at full throttle. However, we knew that there was an inevitable conclusion; only 5% of people survive for 5 years, dad got 16 months.
Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, but research into new treatments is hugely underfunded.
I will be taking on the Lake District 3 Peaks challenge with a team of fellow flooring guys and girls who work with Cockerill and Co. As most people know, the last time I tackled a peak was probably in this photo!
Anything that you can contribute is hugely welcome and will go towards helping other families who are in the position that we were in 2016.
Mark Robinson's Story:
My mum's name is Mandy Robinson. She was diagnosed with a brain tumour 2 years ago after losing her eyesight in one eye. Despite this devastating news, she has shown incredible resilience and strength. She’s still alive and kicking bless her, but she isn’t great from the operation. The surgery left her with significant challenges, and she now relies on a daily regimen of medication to manage her condition. Her life expectancy has been shortened, but she continues to fight every day.
This journey has been incredibly tough on our family, and we know firsthand the impact that brain tumours can have on loved ones.
By sharing our stories and taking on this challenge, we hope to raise awareness and funds for crucial brain tumour research. Your support can make a significant difference in the lives of families like ours. Thank you for your generosity.
