Myself (Ed) and Thomas will be donning the Tartan and taking on the Mighty Stride, a whopping 23 miles, on Sunday 27 April at the Glasgow Kiltwalk.

Thomas and I were matched by Gig Buddies in 2023 and have enjoyed countless nights out together. We love our dance music, staying up late and dancing the night away. Our friendship was made possible by Gig Buddies for Thera Trust.

About Gig Buddies for Thera Trust:

For many people with a learning disability, paid support ends at 10pm, which makes a night out almost impossible. 70% of adults with a learning disability say they would like to get out more in the evenings.

The Gig Buddies project matches members with a learning disability to like minded volunteers with a shared passion and views of a lifelong friendship.

Gig buddies have partnerships with multiple venues to advise and support them to ensure they feel comfortable and knowledgeable in welcoming people with a learning disability.

To date, Gig Buddies have helped more than 100 pairings enjoy more independence, have new experiences, and make lifelong friendships.
