Story
I am fundraising for the Mental Health Foundation, the UK's charity for everyone's mental health. With prevention at the heart of what they do, the foundation aims to find and address the sources of mental health problems.
I will be embarking on a personal trek to scale the Cheviot, the highest point in the Northumberland National Park standing at 815 metres. This area can be difficult to navigate, seeing some adverse weather conditions, and with the added rugged terrain it can be quite a challenge.
As a County Durham lad myself, I know how mental health issues especially within the north east, can be easily laughed off or just not spoken about at all. Many people are in denial as they don’t know about it properly, many suffer in silence, and many don’t know the help available at hand, to get them on their way to living happier lives. This charity is all about promoting the help that is out there, and giving people the opportunity to start understanding their mental health and the ways in which they can battle their problems.
I see this as a great opportunity to raise funds and promote the charity at the same time! I will be carrying a flag for when I reach the summit to get a photo and raise awareness for this important cause. Having recently discovered this charity, I am fully committed to supporting its cause and to help make a difference.
I am aiming to raise somewhere around £250, and see where things go from there. I would appreciate any help. Even a fiver, a fiver here and there adds up.
Thank you for your help.
