Sally and I are both having a significant birthday this year and I wanted to 'celebrate' by achieving a life long ambition of cycling the length of the UK from Lands End to John O'Groats. As the ride will involve me being away from home for 2 weeks, it makes sense for Sally to join me! I will cycle each day and Sally will drive each day, meeting up for overnight accommodation and acting as my support team and much needed motivator.

The route we are taking is 1116 miles and I plan to cycle for 13 days, averaging around 90 miles per day with many arduous climbs. We start on 14th May and hope to reach John O'Groats on 28th May.

Our chosen charity is Rainbows hospice for children and young people. Rainbows cares for hundreds of families every year who have a baby, child or young person with a serious or terminal illness that means their lives will be shorter than most - it is the next best place to home, when it is needed most.

Sally has seen the fantastic respite, care and support the hospice provides at first hand with one of her ex pupils and his family being supported so wonderfully by Rainbows.
