Story

In a fit of pique Kieran Persand and Ed McGuinness have decided to take on the challenge of rowing, non-stop, with limited (i.e. 'no') training!

They almost called it 'row" member but they decided they would put their money where their mouths are or rather ask you if you would kindly support them in their endurance event! They have each shared a little bit of their own experiences below. They appreciate times are tough but they have shared some of their own experiences below about how they have both been affected by mental health and how your kindness can go a long way.

Ed, who served in Afghanistan, found the whole withdrawal from the country in 2021 quite harrowing and the lack of control and influence really impacted his mental health. Fortunately, with the support of friends and family, he came out of this stronger - but not everyone has the opportunity to do that which is why charitable support is so important.

Kieran has been a passionate champion for mental health, with numerous family members working in the area. He has also had his own personal experiences with mental health and is keen to support causes that further awareness and fundraise for the issue. This time last year Kieran ran the Yorkshire Marathon (again with very little training) to raise money for a charity that was set up in memory of an individual who sadly took their own life at a young age. They were a member of the Lacrosse club that Kieran was President of and why the club has such a close relationship with the charity.

Ed and Kieran will be embarking on this challenge on Saturday 25th November from 9am - 9pm in Epsom, come rain or shine (knowing their luck, it will probably be pouring with rain) - so any money you can donate, will be greatly appreciated and will go directly to the Epsom based mental health charity, Love Me Love My Mind.
