Story
On the 2nd of September I will be attempting to complete a self-sufficient, 5-day, 230km ultra marathon through 5 wildlife conservancies in North Kenya.
This is an extreme endurance race, at altitude, with steep climbs, high temperatures, and across challenging terrain.
I’ve never done anything like this before and for me it will be a challenge of a lifetime.
I am fundraising to support African Wildlife Rangers who serve on the front line of conservation and anti-poaching via two fantastic organisations; ForRangers and Save the Rhino International.
All profits from race entry fees, together with additional funding, goes directly to supporting these everyday heroes. Past fundraising has been used to pay for essential kit, life and medical insurance, new ranger stations and training for the Rangers and communities who come into contact (and sometimes conflict) with wildlife.
Wildlife rangers throughout Africa put their lives on the line every day to protect the Continents iconic wildlife. Since 2003 over 1,000 rangers have been killed protecting vulnerable species, and many many more have been injured and wounded.
This race will provide me a brief insight into what these selfless men and women do on a daily basis, travelling vast distances through tough terrain safeguarding Africa wildlife for future generations.
