We help children with disabilities to enhance the quality of their lives

Story

The Charity

The Friends of Alfie Johnson was formed back in 2009, as a fundraising organisation, set up by family and friends who were solely committed to helping Alfie, after he suffered such devastating brain-injuries at birth.

In 2014, the Friends of Alfie Johnson were successfully registered as a non-profit charity, solely committed to Helping Children with Disabilities in the Dudley, Sandwell and Wolverhampton boroughs of the Black Country. Since then, we have continued to help children, like Alfie, and as a thank you to all of those who helped to make Alfie’s life a little easier through what was started for him back in 2009.

Unfortunately, Alfie passed away in November 2023 at the age of 16 and, although this challenge had already been planned, we would like a huge push to raise as much money as possible to help children like Alfie in the future in his memory.

The Challenge

Climbing the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland. Scafell Pike in England, Mount Snowdon in Wales and Ben Nevis in Scotland, in 24 HOURS.

That is a combined 3408m in height and over 14 hours walking!

I’ve been a Freemason and a member of Noah’s Ark Lodge No.347 based at the Masonic Hall, Edward Street, West Bromwich since 2021 and charity is one of our founding principles. 6 Noah’s Ark members and I have decided to put a team together and join the other trustees of Friends of Alfie Johnson in attempting the 3 Peaks Challenge on 8th June 2024.

We are training 3 times per week and practicing for the big day by walking local canals, hiking local hills as well as hitting the gym more than usual, we won’t be beaten!

All funds raised will go to the Friends of Alfie Johnson Charity and my business, DSW & Co., will also make a donation.
