Story
As a fair weather cyclist, I'll be dusting off the bike, removing the stabilisers and pounding the tarmac in a bid to prepare for riding around 240km across the beautiful countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds in aid of two great charities for the pub sector.
I'll be joining a number of riders from across hospitality who will be taking on the 'Pedalling 2 Pubs UK Edition 2023' challenge to raise money and awareness for two great charities, 'The Licensed Trade Charity' and 'Only a Pavement Away', who support people who work in the pub and hospitality industry.
The pub sector has been hard hit in recent times and while pub operators provide support and help for many in society, as was demonstrated during lockdown times, they are the last to ask for help and support themselves. The LTC is there to provide that support for those that fall through the cracks.
And why should we be supporting these people? Only a Pavement Away is just one of the answers to that - this is a charity which seeks to help and support homeless and vulnerable people back into society by seeking to place them in jobs and careers in the hospitality society.
This ride is going to a tough challenge for someone of my impressive fitness levels... But it's for two great causes, so please do give generously, and I promise to post all photos of me falling into hedges, being overtaken by toddlers and farm animals, and generally looking stupid.
Thanks for the support.
