Story

The Salvation Army as a Christian Church and Charity has been working in Ebbsfleet Garden City since 2022 supporting people of all ages and backgrounds. In that time, we have been establishing regular opportunities for people to meet and engage, as well as listening to the need of the local community.

The rising cost of living and people's changing circumstances mean that life can feel uncertain for us all, and we feel that there is a great need right now for a focus on wellbeing and building relationships. Our hope is to bring joy and a sense of belonging and security through whatever we do, including our Meet Up Monday cafe where all can come and have a chat over a free cup of coffee, our Walk and Talk group meeting at the Blue Bean Coffee Company on a Tuesday, coffee morning at the community centre in Castle Hill on a Friday working alongside Ebbsfleet Baptist Church, our weekly mentoring work within local primary schools and our pop-up youth events.

It is important to us that finances never become a barrier, so all of what we do in the community is free to whoever comes along. However, it does cost us to run, so we would very much appreciate any donations you might be able to give to support this work so that we can keep doing what we're doing, and even expand our support for the community further!

Ebbsfleet is made up many different villages – Castle Hill, Ebbsfleet Green, Alkerden, Ashmere, Ebbsfleet Cross, Springhead, Harbour Village and Cable Wharf as well as the existing towns of Northfleet and Swanscombe. To help us make a difference in all these communities we need to be mobile, and that is why we are currently focussing our fundraising to support a mobile community space. We are hoping to have commissioned a vehicle very similar to the one in the images by the end of this financial year. So any help you can give to help to get us “on the move” would be great! The mobile community space will enable us to provide year-round support for all in the community in Ebbsfleet and surrounding neighbourhoods. The space will offer social opportunities and events to build local connections and relationships, reduce isolation, as well as creating a safe space for young people and support our aim to deliver the much-needed street-based youth work and activities as identified by the local young people. Thank you.

We would love for you to be a part of what we do, whether that's by donating financially, or taking part in our activities in person. You are welcome!

(p.s. all donations go directly into use within Ebbsfleet Garden City and the surrounding area!).
