Meet the Edinburgh Accies Hasbeens, a team of rugby hasbeens and cycling enthusiasts who are gearing up for a monumental challenge, Doddies Grand Tour 2025.
There will be 5 members of the team that will start AVIVA Stadium in Dublin cycling to the ferry in Belfast.
The rest of the team will meet up in Stanraer to pedal their way across Scotland, covering a grueling 700 miles over just four days, all in the heart of winter. And what’s the grand finale? Ending their epic journey in Edinburgh just in time for the Scotland vs Ireland 6 Nations Rugby match!
But this isn’t just any ride. The Accies Hasbeens are dedicating their journey to the memory of the legendary Doddie Weir, a true icon in the rugby world. They’re raising funds for much-needed Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research, a cause close to their hearts.
Braving the elements, pushing their limits, and showcasing the true spirit of camaraderie, the Edinburgh Accies Hasbeens are determined to make a difference. With each mile they conquer, they’re not only honouring Doddie’s legacy but also contributing to the fight against MND.
So, gear up and join the Accies Hasbeens on this unforgettable ride! Follow their journey, cheer them on, and support their mission to fund vital MND research. Together, let’s turn the wheels of change and pedal towards a brighter, healthier future!
