Dylan's fundraiser for The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR)

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
Hi there,
I am running the London Marathon in 2025 in support of my good friend, Danny who was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer (Poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of mediastinal origin) in August 2023.
*UPDATE*
Danny passed away on Monday 4th November 2024 at 13:52, surrounded by some amazing family and friends.
Sleep tight Danny, we love you ❤️🕊️
Lung cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK and is more common in those aged 75 years and over.
I have the honour of running on behalf of The Institute of Cancer Research and would appreciate any support, be that by donation or sharing this fundraiser.
Me and Danny have been friends for many years.
Anyone who’s met Danny will tell you of his friendly and mischievous character, always makes people laugh, he has the ability to connect with people wherever he goes, with his loyalty and selflessness.
Danny was hospitalised on the 3rd of August 2023 after a period of feeling breathless and severe coughing.
After numerous biopsies, blood tests, scans and weeks of waiting for a diagnosis. He was diagnosed with Poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of mediastinal origin, which is a rare and aggressive form of lung cancer.
This was a shock to Danny, his family and friends as he was 29 years old at the time, in good health, a non smoker and no pre-existing health issues.
