Story
My wife Nicola and I are both taking part at a Looney Dook in Lochgoilhead on the 2nd of February. The average temperature at that time of year is about -1C and the water temp around 3C.
I have been a member of Scouting from Beavers right the way through to a Leader, I am currently a volunteer within Lenzie Scouts, the Clyde Regional team, Auchengillan's support team and Supporting the re-opening of my childhood group the 1st & 6th Ayrshire (Irvine) Scouts.
Both my children are members of the Lenzie group and my wife is a volunteer with the Beaver section so this is now a full family affair.
I am very aware how lucky I am to have benefited from scouting my whole life and how much it gives back to the young people and adults across the world from every walk of life.
Every week Scouts Scotland helps young people across every community in Scotland, including remote and rural communities, to have fun, make friends and learn new skills that will help them to thrive now and in the future.
Scouts Scotland is passionate about growing Scouting where it’s needed most. 10% of groups already operate in the most disadvantaged areas of Scotland and a core part of their strategy is to open many more groups in rural communities and areas of deprivation. By donating to my page you'll be helping young people all across Scotland learn new skills, build confidence and resilience, and most importantly have fun.
