Story
Club Peloton (clubpeloton.org) is the charity and real estate cycling community transforming the lives of young people. Since 2006, it has given £4.5 million in grants to projects that make a real difference. Cycle to MIPIM is Club Peloton's original endurance fundraising ride that brings together cyclists of all abilities to ride, network and fundraise. Every year, riders from across the property industry complete the 1,438km challenge from London to Cannes, arriving in time for MIPIM, the leading international real estate fair. The funds we raise go towards:
- recruiting families for 1,150 children waiting longer than 18 months to find adoptive homes
- assisting 500 families with post adoption support
- awarding 800 bikes, tandems and adapted trikes to children and young people affected by cancer
- supporting research to illustrate the relationship between physical and mental well-being and physical activity in children surviving cancer
- tackling the root causes of violent street crime through 18 amazing projects
Having barely touched a bike in the last 3 years this is something of a ridiculous challenge for me - going from nothing to hopefully-fit-enough in around 3 months. The ride itself sounds tough enough, but it's the cold, dark, windy, grim, winter training that is really going to hurt. My young kids (3 and 7) are being very helpful, already christening my indoor training bike a belittling 'Daddy's Staying Still Bike' and taking great delight in putting me in the hardest gears and pulling the brakes whilst I'm trying to ride uphill. Every little helps!
Aside for the actual challenge, having gone through cancer myself 15 years ago and knowing how tough it was I can only imagine how awful it must be for a child (and their family) to go through it. The great work of Club Peloton goes a long way towards helping such causes. Please give generously.......
