Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Having undertaken the start of my Triathlon journey in 2021 as a complete novice I have learnt so much from primarily my local club Bustinskin and associated members. I completed my first classic distance Triathlon locally here in Weymouth in the June 2021, moving on to a half distance Ironman in Weymouth that September. Bitten by the bug more followed in 2022, and the decision to attempt a full distance Ironman in 2023 was hatched!
This will involve a 2.4 mile sea swim, straight into a 112 mile ride, then off the bike straight into a 26.2 mile (marathon distance) run - all at the tender age of 51. Fully self funded, I have chosen Ironman Cork in Ireland to fulfill this dream on 20th August, the culmination of 9 months of dedicated training.
I have decided to raise funds for a local Dorset Blind Association (DBA), with whom I have the pleasure of delivering the mobile support of equipment to visual impaired people across Dorset. DBA is a local, independent charity, and every penny is well spent on improving the lives of the visually impaired people of Dorset.
My Grandma suffered from the eye condition Macular Degeneration for the last 12 years of her life, I see this condition on a daily basis and being able to provide a service to these individuals gives me great satisfaction.
Nearly 35,000 people across Dorset are living with serious sight loss, and a reduction in local authority support means DBA services are in more demand than ever.
Thank you for your support.
