Story

The Brain Tumour Charity is the world's leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, we're moving further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour.

I am running for my auntie, her story:

Okai people it’s the time to raise money for a charity, a charity that none of you may ever have heard of or come across and that is The Brain Tumour Charity. Yes your brain!!!! The most important organ in your body that controls your entire body and yet here we are talking about it. Why????? Well I was diagnosed with Glioblastoma February 2022 with an incurable, highly aggressive malignant form of brain cancer which has led me to be terminal with no prognosis, so I currently live my life with a death sentence. I am well looked after for now I live my life with quarterly MRI to check the progress of my tumour. Anyway less about me…... So my challenge is to run (although I’m more likely to walk) Londons Landmark Half Marathon in 6th April 2025 for my chosen charity. I’ll lay out some facts about brain tumours..

•40 people die every year from cancer particularly children and adults under the age of 40

•There are 130 different types of cancer

•12%of adults whom are diagnosed would be lucky to make it past 5 years :( those who make it have had their life expectancy reduced by 27 years

•Over 12,000 are diagnosed with brain cancer ever year that’s 33 every day with over 88,000 children and adults are expected to life with it without knowing

And for me the most crucial fact is that 700m is spent on cancer research with only 3% spent in brain tumours. How sickening and for people like me treatments havent changed in over 20 years.

So if you wish to donate please take time to think about brain tumour charities out there that need your help to increase the funding to improve treatments, medicines, bloody hell to improve anything.

I’m living with a death sentence but in the last 18m I’ve watched and listen that 5 people o know have been diagnosed with a brain cancer one way, shape or form.

So please dig deep!!
