Story

This year I am raising funds for Equality Starts At Home (ESAH) which is a UK registered charity with a mission to change mindsets and make equality at home a reality for all.

According to Oxfam, women and girls undertake more than three-quarters of unpaid care work in the world which equates to $10.8 trillion (yes with a 'T') when valued at minimum wage and make up two-thirds of the paid care workforce.

I have been involved with ESAH since the start of 2023 and am incredibly passionate about the mission. In my experience as a family with a young child living abroad, I have witnessed firsthand how working towards equality at home benefits both partners.

In addition to my personal experience, the research clearly shows the benefits of equality at home:

A McKinsey study into men who took paternity leave indicated that all those surveyed were glad they took it and 90% noticed an improvement in the relationship with their partners.

The Harvard Business Review highlights that 'women with equal partners at home are more successful at work' and 'daughters with dads who do their fair share are more likely to pursue their career aspirations, often in less stereotypical occupations, with more self-esteem and self-autonomy'

With your support, we can work together to make equality at home a reality for all!
