From the 5th to the 18th of September, I'll be cycling 1000 miles across England, Spain and France. I'm doing it as a personal celebration of the end of my PhD journey but also to raise money for my favourite charity, The Bike Project - here's some info about them:

"Whilst awaiting asylum decisions, refugees in the UK survive on as little as £9.95 per week. This forces impossible decisions between catching the bus and eating a hot meal.

"Since 2013, The Bike Project has been supporting refugees and people seeking asylum to access freedom and independence through cycling. We collect and refurbish second-hand bikes and donate them to refugees as well as providing cycling training programmes to build confidence and community."

My route takes me from Birmingham to Portsmouth via Oxford, then a ferry to Bilbao, 8 days of riding through Spain and France to Le Havre, another ferry back to Portsmouth and then two more days of riding back to Birmingham.
