Story

Welcome to the third annual DouzeCoupes cruise! I am very pleased and excited to announce that Goodwood Motor Circuit have been kind enough to allow us to use their facilities for the third year running to host our cruise and car show in memory of our beloved friend Charles Evans (Douzecoupes on instagram).

Last year we managed to raise a total of £8,843 for the Anthony Nolan charity. Anthony Nolan help find donors and suitable matches for those people who are battling blood cancer who need a bone marrow transplant. They save hundreds of lives every year, and are the people who found my suitable stem cell donor when I was battling cancer. In 2021 i had to have a bone marrow transplant to get me into remission. Charles was always incredibly supportive of me, and when i got out of hospital he organised a cruise to Goodwood for me and to raise money for Anthony Nolan in the process. We always planned on continuing this event every year to raise money. They are Charles' chosen charity, as he did a lot of fundraising for charities close to his heart.

Around 170 cars of all types turned up and completely filled the paddocks at the motor circuit for a fun, relaxed morning with friends, food and drink available. We even had an auction selling things from signed F1 caps to signed art pieces, and everything in-between.

I am sure by now that most of you who are reading this will know who Charles was and his story by now, but for those who are new or were not lucky enough to have met him, he was kind, caring, charismatic, totally selfless, and a complete petrolhead through and through. He started the Wacky Racers Coffee Club with the intention of bringing together a relaxed group of like minded petrolheads who share a mutual bond and love for cars. His collection of cars were impressive, but his presence was magnetic, which kept people coming back every time and attracting new friends along the way. For this we have Charles to thank, for creating a tightly knit group of friends.

Charles tragically passed away in April 2022. His sudden passing left a enormous hole in the southern and London car community, and for many had lost a great friend who cannot be replaced.

We plan to continue this event every year from now on in memory and honour of our dear friend, and to raise money in the process, as Charles would want.

We look forward to seeing and welcoming everyone this august back to the motor circuit for the most anticipated event of the year. The DouzeCoupes cruise. #douzecoupes #douzecoupescruise #WRCC

Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
