We fund medical research to find treatments for people with scarring

Story

I've known Ed since I was 13 years-old, best friends at school and best man at my wedding! He was one of the most active people I knew, until in 2017 he had to leave the army after being diagnosed with Dercum's disease:

Dercum's disease is a rare disorder that causes painful fatty tumors under the skin. The tumors, called lipomas, require regular surgical removal leaving significant scarring across the whole body.

I am consistently inspired with how Ed has dealt with all the significant challenges that Dercum's has thrown at him, and all the while being wonderfully modest and continuing to be a brilliant friend.

We spoke more recently about the impact of the surgeries and the lasting physical and mental impact of scarring, therefore I'm delighted to be able to raise money for the Scar Free Foundation.

Scars come in different shapes and sizes. They are a reminder of both trauma and healing. But every time a debilitating scar is formed, someone’s life is changed forever. The Scar Free Foundation is funding the right research to find treatments for everyone with life-changing scars. Your donation will speed up major breakthroughs in research and get treatments to people who need them, faster.

A fantastic cause I hope you'll agree, therefore anything you can donate will be hugely appreciated.

Thanks everyone,

Doug
