I am part of an all-female team of nine, running, in a relay, from Stranraer to Edinburgh: a distance of approximately 155 miles, to be covered in 3.5 days.

We will aim to cover 40 miles on each of the first three days and then complete the final stretch, as a whole team, on the last day.

Within this team challenge, each of us will be setting ourselves a personal challenge with regards how many miles we will cover each day.

We are leaving Stranraer on Wednesday 5th February 2025 and arriving into Edinburgh's Grassmarket at around 3pm on Saturday 8th February 2025.

First and foremost, we are taking on this challenge to raise vital funds for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation.

Each of us has witnessed the devastating impact MND has on the lives of those diagnosed with the disease, and on their loved ones.

We feel immensely privileged to have a choice - the choice to take on this challenge; the choice to push ourselves to the limit; the choice to stop if/when it becomes too much; the choice to call on the support of our family and friends - all the while, for those living with the MND, the disease cruelly strips away their freedom to choose.

We are a group of 'ordinary' women, squeezing in training runs amongst the pressures and busyness of every day life. We have been hugely inspired by what the teams of cyclists have achieved for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation in recent years. This has, motivated us to take on a challenge which will raise awareness of the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation and, at the same time, inspire and empower others.
