Spoken Word - DLLC Winter Party · 5 December 2024

Floods, caused by a powerful storm known as “Dana,” have impacted transportation with major highways, railways, and metro lines shut down, leaving areas isolated. The devastation has claimed over 200 lives across several regions, including Valencia.

Story

We are raising money to support All Hands and Hearts, a UK charity, in addressing the devastating impact of DANA (Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos), which caused severe flooding in Valencia, Spain, in October 2024. This disaster significantly affected many communities, including friends and family of several final-year students who lived in Spain last year.

All Hands and Hearts operates with a 'Smart Response' strategy, focusing on Response, Recovery, Resilience, and Renewal. Their approach prioritises listening to local communities and mobilising volunteers to deliver direct and lasting impact. The funds we raise will go towards rebuilding safe, resilient homes, schools, and other essential infrastructure in Spain, ensuring long-term recovery for those affected.

We would like to use the DLLC Winter Party as an Open Mic Tertulia—a space to come together, celebrate the end of the year, and extend our support to those in need. Together, we can make a meaningful difference for the communities impacted.
