BULLET POINT SUMMARY

• I'm doing a proper run for the first time in 15 years, in support of Imago Dei (see below)

• To encourage you to be generous in your sponsorship, I have committed to match the first £250 of sponsorship AND (to incentivise myself to take training etc seriously) if my finish time is over the 1 hour target time I have been set, I will contribute a further 1% of all sponsorship for each minute over that target...

• Longer-winded blurb below!

FULL STORY

Thanks to the inspiring example (/competitive benchmark) set by my big sister completing a half marathon earlier this year (and her *kind* suggestion that I might want to join her on this one), for the first time in 15 years I plan to run a distance longer than the width of a cricket pitch by taking on the London 10k in September (baby steps, and all that).

Aside from being a long overdue acceptance of a need to upgrade my fitness levels, we are also going to be raising money for the amazing charity Imago Dei, who do some incredible work running courses in prisons for women and then continue to support them once they leave.

The courses they run look at some of the underlying reasons behind offending and provide the course participants with tools and skills that they can use everyday / take with them once they leave prison.

The support they give to women leaving prison is tailored to meet each individuals needs and can range from help securing housing and accommodation to filling in forms.

With absolutely zero training having been done until this week (third week of July...), I now have 10 weeks to park the usual "dodgy knees" and "too flat footed" excuses to re-find some stamina and beat the 1hr barrier that various people have suggested is a reasonable target for someone who has done no real running in more than a decade.

Those who know me will know I'm most incentivised when I don't want to let anyone down - so what better incentive to achieve my fundraising target AND train hard than:

• If I finish the 10k in under an hour, I will match 100% of the value of the first £250 of donations received

• For every minute over one hour, I will add to the above a further 1% of all donations received (e.g. £10 per minute if the £1,000 fundraise target is achieved)

Your support (/incentivisation) is very much appreciated and will be going towards a fantastic cause.

Cheers
