Ok, here goes…

Two sisters, both with a few loose screws, so obviously there was only ONE charity we could possibly choose to raise vital funds for… Mind!

Yep, we’re both in our 50s and, for reasons that seemed perfectly sensible at the time, decided: “Ooh, I’ve got a free weekend in April… shall we run a marathon?”

So here we are, cap firmly in hand!

Helen was lucky enough to get a ballot place. When I didn’t, she very kindly offered me some words of encouragement… which are absolutely not repeatable here! So I applied for a charity place with a charity that means a huge amount to me — and thankfully, Mind said yes.

And now it’s official…

The London Marathon

Running for Mind

We’re both running for the same charity, side by side, and we’re hoping you lovely lot will help us reach our minimum fundraising target of £2,500 — and hopefully smash it!

Helen has done the London Marathon before, so she knows exactly what we’ve let ourselves in for.

I, on the other hand, have decided that the sensible way to tackle 26.2 miles is to dress up as a fairy and hope the magic dust gets me to the finish line.

There will undoubtedly be sweat, tears, questionable life choices and quite possibly the odd swear word… but we’ll be doing it together.

And then, just for the serious bit…

Mind does incredible work supporting people experiencing mental health problems, whatever the reason or circumstances. Mental health can affect absolutely anyone, and having access to support, information and someone to turn to can make a huge difference.

Every single donation, no matter how big or small, will help Mind continue that vital work and make a real difference to people who need it.

So please, if you can spare anything at all, we’d be incredibly grateful.
