Story
Many of you, like me, have seen at first hand the impact of dementia on your friends and family and how it changes everyone’s life for ever. One of my friends ran his own business criss-crossing the country to secure new contracts. It was incredibly stressful for him to meet the financial targets. Sadly, his life is now spent going to memory cafes, doing cognition exercises, visiting the medics and enduring the curious looks of close friends when he repeats himself. Dementia can have a devasting impact on us all and this is why I am making this huge leap of faith by taking part in the Zip Wire challenge at Trent Bridge on Sunday afternoon – July 16th. I shall fling myself across the Trent Bridge cricket ground in support of the Trent Bridge Community Trust, which is the charitable arm of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.
I serve on the Notts cricket club committee and I’m also the woman who shouts ‘Come on Notts’ to inspire the club’s bowlers and batters. Sometimes, I get rewarded with an echo or even cheers from supporters.
It is important to understand that any gift, however, large or small will help in the important work done by those involved with the trust. It will make a difference. So please give.
Donating is actually quite straightforward, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. I am assured it is the most efficient way to donate, saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please give and ‘Come on Notts’!
