FUNDRAISER DENTAL AND MEDICAL AID FOR PALESTINIAN AND SYRIAN REFUGEES
From the 1st to the 8th of January 2025, we will be taking a multi-disciplinary voluntary medical aid team from the UK to Jordan. This will include a team of Dentists who will provide free care to refugees in both the Palestinian Refugee Camps near Amman and the under-served Syrian Refugee Camps located close to Mafraq.
The Dental team will consist of Atif Saeed, Hussein Ahmed, Zariyaab Butt, Samraan Mehrban, Safa Ilyas, Jeevan Bhuhi, Sohana Hudah, Abubakar Baana & Yara Al Omari.
All volunteers will personally cover the cost of their flights, accommodation and expenses on the trip.
Unfortunately, both the Palestinian and Syrian refugee communities in the camps in Jordan have very limited or no access to Dental Care. This situation can often lead to chronic toothache or infection, which in turn significantly affects their well-being and quality of life. As a result, those in need of these essential services are often pushed further into destitution and deprivation.
This situation is compounded by the refugees having a disproportionately high prevalence of both acute and chronic medical conditions, coupled with a significant shortage of Physicians treating and attending to them.
Our Dental Team will treat refugees with any dental and oral health needs, with the aim of providing remedial and crucial dental treatment. This will include providing free comprehensive examinations, oral cancer screening, protective fluoride varnishes, fillings and extractions.
As well as providing dental and pain relief for the refugees, we will also include oral hygiene programmes for the refugees and the local healthcare staff and personnel, with the aim of improving oral health education, confidence and well-being. This will also include teaching hygiene protocols, in order to improve safety and infection prevention.
The multi-disciplinary team will also include Medical Doctors, Optometrists, Orthoptists and Pharmacists.
We will be working with a UK-based charity, Global Ehsan Relief, to deliver these services.
Donations will be utilised for the basic dental provisions needed to carry out dental procedures. Your generous donations will also support the work of the Medical, Ophthalmic /Eyecare & Pharmacy teams. This includes providing medical exams and prescribed medications and donating medicines, medical supplies and equipment. In addition it will include providing free spectacles, funded cataract operations and eyecare treatments, administering vaccinations, surgery costs and medical training and educational programmes. When medical assistance alone is insufficient, your donations will also be used to fund other necessities such as food parcels, sanitation, winter relief items, school teaching supplies, and ongoing local health projects.
We kindly ask that you join us in making a meaningful impact and donate generously , in the hope that we can help ease some of the suffering and pain of these already vulnerable and forgotten communities.
