Story
Dennis is raising funds for a short term mission trip to Ibba in South Sudan. Dennis is part of a group of three (with Niall Campbell & Stephen McCallion) from the Grouped Parishes of Ahoghill & Portglenone who are going to Ibba in August of this year.
The purpose of the trip will be to help establish a mission partnership between the local church and Ibba diocese in South Sudan. South Sudan is one of the poorest countries in the world with high levels of infant mortality. Despite being a lush and fertile region, the area has suffered from years of war and lacks basic infrastructure meaning the everyday things we take for granted, such as good healthcare, education, transport and training are almost non-existent.
In partnership with Bishop Wilson Kamani, who oversees Ibba Diocese, and with the help of CMSI (Church Mission Society Ireland), we hope to support future key projects in the area and it is fundraisers like this one that can really make that happen!
Given Dennis is not as fit as he once was, he has set the challenge of running 10km at the Glenarm Castle Challenge Run on the 18th May. Being more accustomed to covering the short distance between the sofa and the fridge in record times, running 10k without a break does represent a genuine challenge for him!
