Story
On Sunday April 27, a group of friends from Wesley Methodist Church in Chester will be walking/running the Chester City Walls to raise awareness and funds for Amos Trust's work in Gaza and the West Bank. We aim to walk/run at least 5 circuits (about 10 miles) which could take walkers about 3 and a half hours, the time which some might take to run a marathon. Last year a couple of people managed 7.
The annual Palestine marathon was to have been held on Friday April 25 - it starts in Bethlehem, serving to highlight some of the injustices experienced by Palestinians, and it too takes in a wall, the Separation Wall which restricts the free movement of Palestinians. Sadly the marathon won't happen this year, but thousands around the world will be walking, running and cycling that weekend, to show solidarity with the people of Palestine, and raise money for Amos Trust's emergency appeal for Gaza and the West Bank.
We are immensely grateful to relatives and friends who supported us for Run The Wall 2024, many very generously. Please don't feel pressured to repeat that generosity if it isn't possible, but - who would have guessed what would happen over the intervening 12 months? - just as we wish to walk for Palestine again, we suspect many will be keen to give again.
So we welcome sponsorship through this page, but whether you feel able to sponsor us or not, please join us from midday on Sunday April 27 in thinking about the people of Gaza and the West Bank.
