Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support
This charity is personally close to me, as the research and developments they have carried out has saved our son's life. At 9 weeks old our son had to have open heart surgery to replace his mitral heart valve with a mechanical one, this has saved his life and words can not express how thankful we are. Our son will need to have this changed two more times as he grows over the next 18 years, and currently the mechanical valve requires the recipient to be on Warfarin/anticoagulants to prevent clots forming on the valve.
I want to help raise money, so research can be done to develop the shape or material of the valve, so those whom have the mechanical mitral heart valve will not have to take Warfarin or anticoagulants everyday and have the high risk of bleeding both internally and externally. This will help individuals lead a much more relaxed life, with the freedom of eating what they want and not having to check Warfarin levels on a regular basis.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.
Thanks, for reading my story and donating to this wonder cause.
