I'm sleeping rough at Salisbury Cathedral to help the homeless

Dee Bowyer is raising money for Alabaré

2025 The BIG Sleep at Salisbury Cathedral · 28 March 2025 ·

Alabaré's much-loved annual sleep out in the Cloisters of the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral; where giving up your warm bed for one night and sleeping rough at the Cloisters will raise vital funds for Alabaré's work with the homeless and vulnerable.

Story

On 28th March, I will be taking to the streets with Alabaré and sleeping rough overnight at Salisbury Cathedral. Just me, a sleeping bag and some cardboard boxes.

Over the span of my career, I have seen end to end the impact of being homeless has on people’s lives and the people around them; how they got there, how easy it is for people’s lives to spiral, and how difficult, sometimes impossible, it is to get out of it.

My night sleeping out will be powerful, reflective and a humbling experience as I bed down like those who are homeless. For me it will be just one night, and in the morning I can return to my warm home and comfortable bed. Homelessness is a reality for an estimated 350,000 people in the UK today and every day.

I am raising awareness and funds for Alabaré, in their work to offer a pathway of services that help people who are homeless or vulnerable move forwards with their lives.

Please donate whatever you can (or you can dig deeper!) and sponsor me in my efforts!
