A 12 mile walk (a mile for each treatment I had), 7 October 2023
We support Southend Hospital by fundraising to purchase equipment & improve facilities

Story

In May this year I had to have 12 treatments of radiotherapy whereby I had to wear a full face mask which was locked into position each time and also had a permanent placement tattoo marked onto my chest both of which ensure the same position is maintained for each treatment received. As a claustrophobic I found this particularly hard and want to help raise money and awareness to get rid of these in the future.

Spotlight Radiotherapy Appeal aims to raise £600,000 to fund ultra-precise, state-of-the art Radiotherapy equipment known as Surface Guided Radiation Treatment.

The new technology will revolutionise the way patients accross Mid Essex receive radiotherapy, bringing a host of benefits to patients in terms of comfort, speed and accuracy.

I plan on walking 12 miles, 1 mile for each treatment I had starting from Basildon Hospital to Southend Hospital which is where I received my treatment.
