Story
On May 4th, Hospice Calgary with be holding their Hike for Hospice to support families in our community facing advanced illness, end-of-life, and grief. This is the 20th Anniversary for the hike.
As many of you know, I've been a supporter of Hospice Calgary for many years, and served on their Board of Directors for eight years.
Hospice Calgary provides Palliative Care at our Rosedale facility, and counseling programs for children, families and individuals at the Children’s Grief Centre & Living with Advanced Illness Centre. The money raised at the hike will be used to support children, teens and families coping with life-threatening illness or when they are dealing with the death of someone close to them.
This year I am targeting to raise $3,500. If you can assist in supporting Hospice Calgary, it is greatly appreciated.
For those of you not familiar with the Children’s Grief Centre & Living with Advanced Illness Centre:
• No family is refused support because of an inability to pay. Donations collected help our clients find hope and well-being through compassionate end-of-life and bereavement care, not matter the circumstances.
• In addition to counselling individuals/families,
o free educational sessions are provided on grief support for caregivers and parents, and for those impacted (or supporting someone) with advanced illness, and
o Accredited workshops and seminars training to health care providers, social workers, teachers, police, fire departments, and community groups.
Any support you can give helps those needing grief support or palliative care.
Thank you for your support,
Deb
