Back in 2003, I decided to 'treat' myself to have a personal trainer. My personal trainer persuaded me to complete a 5km run... I hated running, you should have heard the muttering under my breath! But fast forward a few years and for my 40th birthday I decided to celebrate by running 40 races over the year - the longest race being a half marathon. I followed this up the following year by undertaking the Cornish Grand Prix consisting of 15 races over the course of the year - 2 marathons were included. For my 50th I knew I couldn't fit in 50 races so decided to just do 10 - 5 x 10km and 5 x half marathons - they spelt DEBRA FIFTY and were in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Cornwall..... (Dublin, Edinburgh, Belfast...you get the idea..)

Well I turned 55 in December and I thought maybe I should try another challenge but this time do it for a good cause.... so I have enrolled to do the London Ultra, a mere 55km around South London.

Despite what I have done in the past, I am nervous... I am not running fit but I have such a good cause that I need to raise money for, have the best job in the world and the donkeys need help so...... please consider sponsoring me and make all the effort worthwhile.

Maybe you can sponsor me a km or a mile (there are about 34 of them) or ... whatever you can afford would be amazing.....

For those who don't know, the Flicka Foundation is a registered charity and currently cares for over 100 donkeys, and horses at our Cornwall-based sanctuary, many of whom have been rescued from situations of abuse, neglect and abandonment and given a safe home for life. Over 1000 animals have been rescued and rehabilitated over the years.

The costs of looking after all these donkeys is huge. We need to find funds for feed, supplements, veterinary care, dentist and farrier fees, essential site maintenance, equipment and more. We are currently trying to raise funds to build a hospital on site and so this fundraising will go towards that.

It is only with public support and fundraising events that Flicka are able to continue this vital work, so thank you so much for helping to make a difference.
