Story
I'm taking part in the October Dog Walking Challenge to support families facing dementia.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Their nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
I’ve been lucky so far, I am not aware of any instance of dementia in my own family but have so many friends and acquaintances who have had to - and continue to - deal with this. So Chaos and I can, with your help, put our daily walks to good purpose.
Half way update: We’ve covered just over 66km so far, including our trips around Hyde Park! Some interesting locations coming up over the course of the rest of October, will add some pictures of the boy in new places.
21 October: Completed our 100km today, so we’ll target 100 miles instead!
