Story
On 8th April 2020 our dear father passed away. He had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia a number of years before.
Prior to his diagnosis we had noted a change in him and over the years it became increasingly obvious that he would never be the man he was.
It is so true in what they say, that you loose your loved one over and over and to witness his decline was extremely painful, which is why we are so passionate about walking in his memory to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society.
I will be walking with my sister and her friend, Monica who also sadly lost her father recently to this terrible disease. We are walking as a team for our 'Unforgettable Fathers'.
Dementia is the UKs biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and currently there is no cure. We know it is scary but we must confront the biggest health & social care challenge of our time. We owe it to the 900,000 people across the UK currently living with dementia to campaign for change, whilst providing vital day-to-day support. By taking part and raising money, or donating to someone who is, you are helping to do this.
Once you donate, JustGiving sends your money directly to Alzheimer's Society you don't need to do anything and it's the most efficient way to fundraise. So, who will you walk for? #MemoryWalk
