Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am celebrating my retirement by doing a 29km paddle-boarding trail on the river Medway on the revised date of Thursday 3rd August, to support the life-saving work of Hope Community Clinic which which is providing hope and healthcare to a rural community in Rwentobo, SW Uganda. In this area, many people survive on as little as £1/day and maternal and neonatal death rates are among the highest in the world. Many people die of preventable diseases but, thanks to the very low cost Kisiizi Health Insurance Scheme, the people of Rwentobo and surrounding area have been able to access good healthcare at Hope Clinic since it opened in 2019. Services at the clinic include family planning, childhood immunisations, antenatal and post-natal care, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and health education. Due to increased use of the clinic, there is now an urgent need for a new clinical officer to work alongside Julius, our current clinician who is in charge of the facility. If I am able to reach my target of £1,000, it will pay for recruitment and the first 3 months salary for a new clinical officer.
