Story

Martin Searle Solicitors are organising a sponsored walk in aid of Grassroots Suicide Prevention on 13 September 2024

On Friday 13 September 2024, our firm are organising a sponsored walk called ‘Dawn Of Hope’. This is inspired by our Assistant Office Manager, Amy O’Shea. We are a campaigning law firm that tries to make a difference in our community. This also involves supporting causes that our important to our staff and clients. Sadly, suicide is far too common in our society and yet it still remains a taboo subject.

Our Walk of Hope will raise money and awareness for Grassroots Suicide Prevention and is in memory of all those we have lost to suicide and to support those battling with their mental health.

Starting at Brighton Pier at 6am we will proceed along the beach towards Rockwater where we will have breakfast at 7am. A representative from Grassroots Suicide Prevention will outline the importance of their work and how your donations help them provide valuable education and support in our community

Dawn of Hope leads on to our annual Disability Matters campaign. This is scheduled every October to coincide with Disability Awareness Week. It seems fitting after organising this walk to concentrate on anxiety and depression in the workplace. More and more employees are taking anti-depressants and employers often fail to realise they have duties to consider making reasonable adjustments for these employees.

About the charity

We work to make sure nobody has to experience thoughts of suicide alone. We fight dangerous stigma that stops people talking about suicide. We teach communities to recognise and support those at risk. We develop new ways for people to get lifesaving support. Together, we can prevent suicide.
