Story
Kacey, my lovely neice and I are running our first ever 10K race to try and raise a bit of money for RSPCA-Woodside Animal Shelter in Leicester. Neither of us have been running for very long and decided to take the plunge and sign up for a race on the 13th October. Hopefully with the support of some wonderful people we can make all of our hard work and training worth it by being able to make a donation to the amazing RSPCA and so help them care for more animals.
If you are able to and would like to support us, please make a donation. No matter how big or small, every donation can make a huge difference. There is a case study below showcasing some of the brilliant work they do at Woodside Animal Shelter. Thank you!
Case Study - Simon the cat
Simon the cat was rescued in June 2023 after being attacked by a dog and then falling into a paddling pool in a desperate attempt to get away from the dog. He was brought into RSPCA Woodside Animal Centre in critical condition and it was touch-and-go whether he would survive. When the vets examined him, it was discovered that he was very thin and severely anaemic. The vets treated him with antibiotics and steroids. He certainly used up one of his nine lives as he needed a total of 14 weeks of nursing and veterinary care but thankfully, he pulled through, and his mum adopted him in October 2023.
9-yr-old Simon now spends his nights sleeping on the big bed, and his days sitting in his own spot on the sofa, people-watching out the window, and watching his favourite TV programmes- sports and nature documentaries. He gives his mum lots of cuddles to distract her from regularly scratching her carpets.
