Story

Hello, Friends and Family!

We are so excited to share that on Sunday April 27th, 2025, we will be running the TCS London Marathon! This will be our first time running the infamous 26.2 miles and we’ll be taking on this challenge for a cause that’s very personal to both of us. David’s Mum, Susan, and his late Auntie, Isobel, have battled Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a life-limiting condition that affects the central nervous system and brings a range of physical and mental challenges.

David’s Auntie, Isobel, suffered from an aggressive form of MS, having been diagnosed in her early 20s. Very quickly she was unable to care for herself independently, relying on the help of David’s grandparents for the things many of us take for granted. If her challenges with MS weren’t enough, she then fought a long battle with breast cancer before she died in 2011. The brightest and strongest memory of Isobel was her mental resilience and her ability to find joy within such challenging circumstances. She lived her life to the best of her powers, with her family’s support at the core.

Around the time of Isobel’s death, David’s Mum, Susan, was also diagnosed with MS. In the early years, her symptoms were manageable and her life relatively unaffected, but recently the progress of the disease has worsened. Walking and mobility in general are very challenging, though like her sister, she is stoic, incredibly tough by nature, and full of life.

Witnessing these journeys up-close has driven us to shine a light on MS, and to help raise money and awareness for the work the MS Society does. We’d love you to come with us on these next steps.

Supporting the MS Society's Mission

The MS Society is dedicated to supporting individuals affected by MS through offering support networks, information resources, and funding for groundbreaking research to find better treatments and a cure. Since Isobel was diagnosed over 40 years ago, there has been amazing progress in the treatment and understanding of MS, and one of our motivations for raising this money is to push for a lasting cure.

Our Goal

We have set a fundraising target of at least £5000. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us get closer to our goal to support the incredible work of the MS Society.
