Fundraising for Lewisham, Greenwich and Southwark Samaritans
£2,760

Event: Ultimate Triathlon, on 30 June 2024
We listen to anyone who contacts us to help fewer people die by suicide.

Story

The Samaritans of Lewisham, Greenwich and Southwark offer emotional support to anyone in distress or despair, particularly those whose thoughts are leading towards suicide. 80-100 volunteers provide this service by phone and email, linking in to the network of Samaritan branches to provide 24/7 cover across the UK. Last year the volunteers at Lewisham answered 12,306 calls and 1,674 emails.

At the age of 64, I am taking part in my first Triathlon on 30/6/2024 to raise some cash to help towards the running costs of the branch. I would be so grateful if you would consider donating. In return, I will attempt to swim 1,500m (in a lake!), cycle 40km and then round it off by running 10km.

About the charity

Samaritans help people who are in crisis, feel distressed or are thinking of suicide, we give them the time and space to talk about feelings, help explore options and perhaps seek a way to face the future. Our trained volunteers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
