Together, we can take on Snowdon and transform the lives of people with prostate cancer by funding bold science and empowering patients to drive change. All in our mission to create a world free from the impact of prostate cancer.

Story

When I retired last July I felt I needed to find a new challenge, but also an opportunity to make a difference.

It is now nearly nine years since I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Thankfully, it was treated successfully and I have been clear since. Over the years, though, a shockingly large number of relatives, friends and acquaintances have also been faced with the same diagnosis. But with treatment by the NHS and the help of organisations like Prostate Cancer Research, most have made, or will make, similar recoveries.

On 31st May 2025 I am taking on an incredible challenge of trekking over five peaks in North Wales culminating at the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). We will take less frequently walked paths, covering 22km, and over 1,600 metres of ascent. The trek will take around ten hours, beginning and ending in Llanberis. It will be tough, but I will know that each step I take is a step towards raising vital funds and awareness for the work of Prostate Cancer Research.

Prostate cancer accounts for 14% of all cancer cases in the UK; 55,000 cases per year; 12,000 deaths per year; one in eight men are affected by the disease in their lifetime - this rises to one in five black men. Early diagnosis and treatment is key: 78% of men who receive treatment survive for ten or more years.

If you are able, please donate towards my challenge. Together we can all make a difference and transform the lives of people with prostate cancer. All in our mission to see a world free from the impact of prostate cancer.

Thank you.
